Winneba (C/R) March 9, GNA - Kwesi Esua, a 29-year old driver from Gomoa Buduburam near Kasoa in the Central Region had a shock of his life when a man who chartered his taxi cap on Thursday from Buduburam to Winneba pulled a pistol on him in the middle of the journey and took away his vehicle.
Mr. Nicholas Gasu, Winneba District Commander told the Ghana News Agency in Winneba that Esua reported to the police on Thursday that between 1800 hours and 1900 hours a passenger chartered his Taxi cap with registration No. GE 4933 W from Buduburam to Winneba to collect a generator.
He said on reaching Gomoa Mpota junction the passenger who was occupying the front seat, ordered the driver at gun point to stop so he obliged.
Mr. Gasu said the passenger asked Esua to surrender the key to him or he would be shot.
He said with the pistol pointed at him, Esua handed over the key to the passenger who left with the vehicle.
Esua later reported the matter to the Winneba Police, who are conducting an investigation, Mr. Gasu said.

NGO helping to promote education in Gomoa Area
Apam. (C/R) March 9 GNA-International Needs-Ghana, an NGO operating in the Apam area has distributed educational materials, including school uniform to 625 pupils in seven communities in Gomoa district at the cost of 60,513 US dollars to help promote education in the community.
The communities were Gomoa Dago, Mumford, Abrekum, Gomoa Nyanyano, Gomoa Fetteh, Apam and Mankoadze.
Mrs. Angelina Kwarteng, Country Director of the NGO, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Thursday said the NGO was also sponsoring 18 school drop-outs to learn vocation.
She said five pupils from Gomoa Dago Primary schools have been recommended for foreign assistance for their education depending upon their academic performance.
She said the children have been receiving remittances from their adopted parents in Britain and US who periodically paid them visits in Ghana.
Mrs. Kwarteng said her NGO is sponsoring the education of a 40-year-old primary four pupil at Gomoa Akyemfo near Mumford, who has decided to obtain basic education.
