Effia (W/R) March 20, GNA- Mr. Kwesi Onumah, a marriage counsellor, has advised prospective couples to go for counselling from experts to adequately prepare them before contracting marriages.
She said this at the Fourth Biennial Delegates' Conference of the Effiakuma Circuit of the Methodist Youth Fellowship at Effia at the weekend, on the theme "witnessing our faith as youth in Christ".
He noted that the uncertainties and challenges of life had prevented many people from entering into marriages.
Mr Onumah also observed that divorce cases were on the increase but said this could be reversed if the services of counsellors were accessed.
He advised that prospective couples must ensure that they secured their own accommodation, were gainfully employed and organise moderate marriage ceremonies.
Mr. Onumah expressed regret that some newly wedded couples sought divorce shortly after the ceremony adding that inadequate spiritual, physical, financial and emotional preparation could account for such problems.
Mr. Joseph A. Eshun, Circuit Chairman of the fellowship, said the programme expressed the hope that the counseling for prospective couples would enable them to chose their appropriate marriage partners.
