Twifo-Praso Assembly to assist brilliant but needy students

Twifo Praso (C/R) Mar. 7, GNA- Mr Samuel Agyeibie-Kessie, District
Chief Executive of Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, on Monday announced
that the assembly would from next academic year assist brilliant but
needy students to enable them to continue their education at the
Senior Secondary School level.
He explained that male students who would be able to obtain
aggregate 6 while their female counterparts who would get aggregate
10, in the Basic School Education Certificate Examination would be
awarded bursaries.Mr Agyeibie-Kessie announced these when he addressed
about 500 school children and tutors from private schools in Twifo
Praso, to commemorate private schools week, at the town.
He said the Assembly was committed to improving upon the
standards of education in the district, and urged students to learn
hard and to take advantage of the package to acquire higher education
needed for national development.
Mr Agyeibie-Kessie appealed to parents to invest in the education of
their children and to make sure that they took their studies seriously
adding that education was the best legacy Ghanaians could bequeath to
their children.
He said blaming teachers solely for the poor academic
performance of students was not the best approach to solving academic
problems facing schools.
Mr Agyeibie-Kessie commended owners of private schools for their
contribution to the development of education in the country, and said
government was working hard to solve problems facing private sector
education.
He advised children to be obedient and learn hard to enable them pass
their examinations to justify the huge investments being made by
parents, organisations and government in their education.
Mr Agyeibie-Kessie commended the Government for efforts being made to
transform the Twifo Praso Senior Secondary School into a model
educational institution, and asked parents in the area to send their
children to the school.
Pastor John Nyarku, head of the Charity Secondary School and Chairman
of Twifo Praso private schools association, appealed to the National
Service Secretariat to post more service personnel to private schools,
especially those in the rural areas.
