Tamale, Mar 4, GNA - The Nkrumah Action Front (NAF), a youth wing of
the Convention People's Party (CPP) at the weekend organised a
political quiz competition for some Senior Secondary Schools in the
Tamale Metropolis.
It was to test the students' knowledge on Ghana's history and the
role Dr Kwame Nkrumah and the "Big Six" towards independence for the
country and events leading to his over throw.The competition was also
part of activities to mark the Northern Regional celebration of
Ghana's 50th anniversary to as ginger people's interest to fully
participate.
The schools were, Ghana Secondary School, Kalpohin Secondary
School and the Business Secondary School.
The students answered questions ranging from political
development in the country before and after independence and Nkrumah's
seven-year development plan, military rules in Ghana as well as
constitutional governments and their roles.
Mr. Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Chairman of the CPP, who
chaired the function called for the production of a film on Ghana's
history to be shown on Television for the youth and foreigners.
He advised students particularly those reading History to pay
more attention to the subject to educate others to have the interest
of the country at heart to promote nation building.Dr Gamel Nazer, a
leading member of the CPP in Tamale, who was the Quiz Master,
criticized some members of the Big Six who plotted against Dr Nkrumah.
He commended the students for their depth knowledge on issues of
the country and urged them to read for more knowledge.The Kalpohin
Senior Secondary School emerged winners with 41 points while the Ghana
Secondary School were runners-up with 34 points with Business
Secondary became third with 32 points.They took way book prizes, pens,
pencils and certificates of participation.
