Cooperate with Zoom lion staff to clean communities - Supervisor

Agona Swedru, March 4, GNA - Mr Christian Ocran, Agona District
Supervisor of the Zoom Lion Company Limited, has appealed to the
public to cooperate with workers of the company to ensure clean
communities.
He said reports reaching the office of the company indicated that
some members of the public looked down on workers of the company
because they collected refuse and ensured clean surroundings.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Agona Swedru on
Saturday, Mr Ocran said even some traders at Swedru call them names
when they were working in front of their stores and shops.
He noted that such attitude dampened the spirit of the workers,
which could lead to the collapse of the programme.
The Supervisor said told GNA that the Motor Traffic and Transport
Unit (MTTU) personnel of Swedru Division were investigating an
accident last month in which one of the workers of the company on a
tricycle being used for refuse collection was knocked down by a
driver.
Mr Ocran reminded the people that the company had been tasked to
keep town and cities tidy and said "This does not mean that the
workers are hopeless and useless as some people think".
He said the nation had been engulfed with filth and if the
government through National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) had
organised the youth to help to improve the situation the public should
rather help to ensure its success and not to undermine it.
Mr Ocran appealed to Assembly members, Chiefs and Opinion leaders in
the district to sensitise their people on the need to assist staff of
the company working in their communities to enhance sound
environmental cleanliness. He urged the workers of the Company not to
be discouraged in the discharge of their duties to enable the
programme to achieve its aims.
