Workshop for 145 CHIC members in AOB ends

Breman Asikuma (C/R), March 7, GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme has organised a capacity building workshop for 145 members of Community Health Insurance Committees (CHIC) in the eight Urban Areas.
     It was aimed among other things to equip them with more knowledge to educate the people on the need to register with the scheme to achieve the target of 60 per cent by December this year.
    The Scheme Manager, Mr. Eric Owusu Appiah, addressing the participants said about 35 per cent of the people in the area had registered.
    The participants were taken through topics including basic principles of health insurance, the role of CHIC members in the communities, equity and risk equalisation.
     He appealed to the CHIC members to work hard to cover every corner of the district to educate the people to register with the scheme to enable them to have access to free medical care.
    Mr. Appiah urged the participants to put what they had been taught into practice for the people to understand the scheme.
    He appealed to the people not to attach political and ethnic sentiments to the scheme, adding that, it was meant for every Ghanaians irrespective of political affiliations.
