Workshop for 145 CHIC in AOB district ended

Breman Asikuma (C/R), March 7, GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme had organised a day's capacity building workshop for 145 members of Community Health Insurance Committees (CHIC) in the eight Urban Areas in the district.
     It was aimed among others at equipping the participants with more knowledge to educate the people on the need to register with the scheme for it to achieve its target of registering 60 per cent of the people in the area by December this year.
    The Scheme Manager, Mr. Eric Owusu Appiah, addressing the participants said presently about 35 per cent of the people in the area have registered with the scheme.
    The participants were taken through topics, including basic principles of health insurance, the role of CHIC members in the communities, equity and risk equalization.
      He appealed to the CHIC members to work hard and reach everybody at the corner of the district and educate him or her to register with the scheme to enable him to access free medical care.
    Mr. Appiah urged the participants to put what they have been taught into  practice for the people to understand the scheme.
    He appealed to the people in the area not to attach any political and ethnic sentiment to the Insurance scheme, adding that the scheme is meant for all Ghanaians, irrespective of his or her political affiliations.
