Kumasi, Feb 2, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Police Command has cautioned the public not to entertain strangers who accost them for lengthy talks or discussions. It said intelligence information reaching the headquarters indicated that some people, particularly foreigners from the sub-region, engaged shop owners, taxi drivers and suspected wealthy people in frivolous conversation during which they hypnotised them. This was contained in a statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jordan Quaye, in-charge of the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit and released to the press in Kumasi on Thursday.
It noted that victims lead these criminals to their homes, shops and banks and then give whatever wealth, money or property they
have to these strangers under hypnosis."Members of the public should be vigilant, cautious and observant in order not to fall victim and to inform the nearest police station immediately should they have cause to suspect any of such unusual criminals for their arrest", it said."On the streets, at shops, restaurants, relaxation and entertainment centres, should any unknown person try to engage you in an interview, he or she should immediately be avoided", it added.
