Jachie (Ash), Feb 12, GNA - Right Reverend Nuh Ben Abubekr, Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, has said the celebration of the nation's Golden Jubilee called for reconciliation among all sections of the political divide. He said the founding fathers of the nation sacrificed a lot towards the attainment of independence so nothing should be done to divide the people.
Bishop Abubekr was preaching to round off a three-day camp meeting of the Kumasi Circuit of the Methodist Church at Jachie in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District under the theme, "Come Unto Me All That Labour".
He said the celebration of the Golden Jubilee should be dedicated to the glory of God for his mercy and the blessings he has showered on the nation.Bishop Abubekr said the nation had passed through tribulations in the 50 years of its existence but has survived due to the resilience, determination, fortitude and the spirit of forbearance on the part of the people. He said the camp meeting focused on what is required of true Christians and that this should encourage them to open their hearts to God and assist in moving the church forward.
Bishop Abubekr said the vision and mission of the church founded over 170 years ago is still relevant, adding that Christ came to save all and those who will follow Him to end will get everlasting life.Nana Kwaku Amoateng III, Jachiehene, said the camp meeting had brought great hope to the people and appealed to the Methodist Church to establish either a secondary/technical school or vocational institute in the town.
