GET FUND assists Tamale Polytechnic with tankers

Tamale, Feb. 12, GNA - The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) on Monday presented a water tanker and a cesspit emptier valued at about 1.3 billion cedis to the Tamale Polytechnic to help it improve the water and sanitation situation on campus.Alhaji Mustapha Ali Iddris, Northern Regional Minister, who handed over the vehicles to the school's management, called for their proper management and warned them not to commercialize the use of the water tanker to ensure its long life span.
    
He said conditions on the Tamale Polytechnic campus were very appalling and indicated that the government would work to ensure that all polytechnics in the country had funding to improve their standards.Alhaji Iddris who is also the GETFund board chairman, called on institutions to put pressure on contractors, especially those working on CAN 2008 facilities to complete them on schedule.

The Minister also inaugurated a two-storey student hostel rehabilitated by the GETFund at the cost of about 800 million cedis for the polytechnic.Dr Yakubu Seidu Peligah, Principal of the polytechnic, expressed gratitude to the GETFund board and appealed for funding to fence the school's campus to protect it from encroachment.
