Koforidua, Feb.12, GNA- Basic school children in New Juaben Municipality on Monday had their first feel of the 50th anniversary celebration of the country when they were treated to a concert-show as part of the activities marking the celebrations at Koforidua. The concert was performed by the Elidza theatre group to inculcate acts of discipline, punctuality and patriotism in the children.
According to the Eastern Regional Deputy Director of the Centre for National Culture(CNC), Mr Steve Sedofu, the theatre-show was a nation-wide programme to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the country. He said the CNC, in collaboration with the group was using the lessons of the theatre to inculcate discipline especially time consciousness in the children as the nation celebrates its anniversary.
Mr. Sedofu noted that the issue of time had become a major problem in the country, where every programme was delayed, hence the show, to instill the habit of time consciousness among the children. He said since the children were the leaders of the next generation, it was appropriate that they were trained to do away with habits that had plagued the current generation.
