Bomiri (B/A), Feb. 2, GNA – Mr. Kwabena Kyeremeh, Assembly Member for Bonte-Bomiri in Nkoranza district has advised parents to
minimize expenses on funerals, clothing and merry making and rather channel their resources to the education of their children.Mr Kyeremeh was addressing the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) meeting of the local Primary and Junior Secondary Schools at Bomiri.He expressed concern about how some parents wasted their monies on social activities to the detriment of their children's education and called for a change in such attitude.Mr Kyeremeh urged parents to monitor the movements of their children after school to ensure that they did not indulge in social vices through the influence of bad peer groups.He appealed to parents to support teachers in their work so they would be encouraged to give of their best in training the children to become responsible citizens.
The Assembly member appealed to the District Assembly to provide a three classroom block for the school, adding that the existing block had become a "death trap".Mr Kofi Danso, Head teacher of the school, complained about truancy and absenteeism among the students and urged the parents to regularly visit the school to help monitor their wards.
