Taxi driver in court for murder of girlfriend

Accra, April 4, GNA - A 29 year-old taxi driver, who allegedly killed
his girlfriend in cold blood, appeared before the La Magistrate's
Court in Accra for murder.Prince Ofoe, who was charged with
intentionally and unlawfully killing Eunice Etoh, 29, pleaded not
guilty.The Court, presided over by Mrs Florence Out, remanded him in
custody to reappear on April 12.
According to the Prosecutor, Sergeant Akwasi Amankwaa Afrifa the
accused and deceased had been lovers for one-and-a-half years without
a child.The Prosecution said the two of them had had a series of
bloody fights, which resulted in injury to the accused person. After
one such fight, the deceased left the house of the accused and went to
stay with a friend at Adejoni in Nungua in Accra.Sergeant Afrifa said
in February 2007, Ofoe went to Adejoni and met Eunice with another
man. He became offended and fought with the man.He said on March 11
2007, Ofoe, started persuading Eunice to return and sent one Felicia
Asiwornu to call her for him.
The Prosecution said two days later Eunice was found dead on the
beach road at Nungua.The Prosecution said a critical examination
conducted on the body showed that it was carried from some place and
deposited on the beach road.Post-mortem examination showed that the
deceased was murdered.He said the accused was suspected for the murder
because of his initial actions against the deceased.The Police
investigations continue.
