Prizes to 41 students who excelled in various academic endeavours
during the 2005/2006 academic year.The award winners included 24
graduates of the 2005/2006 graduating Class with the rest being
continuing students.Speaking at a ceremony organized for the Award
Winners, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor
Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe said the University, since its inception 59
years ago, had always placed emphasis on recognizing students who
distinguished themselves academically.
Professor Tagoe, who was the Chairman for the occasion said, this was
in line with the University's mission of developing world class human
resources and capabilities to meet national development and global
challenges.The Presidential Advisor on HIV/AIDS Professor Fred T. Sai
said the quality of the world's population will be improved if special
attention is given to women.Professor Sai, who provided a 20,000
dollars seed money in 1995 for a special award for women in various
disciplines in science explained that,
women were very important in the development of the society and hence the
need to encourage more women to excel in their endeavours.
