Tamale, Jan. 29, GNA - The National Under-23 team, the Black Meteors and Real Tamale United (RTU) on Sunday exhibited good display of soccer prowess to impress football fans at the Tamale Kaladan Park in their friendly encounter as part of their preparations ahead of crucial encounters ahead of the two teams.
The Meteors are preparing to play the West African neighbours Burkina-Faso in an Olympic qualifier while RTU are putting up the pieces to meet Accra Hearts of Oak on Wednesday for their OneTouch Premier League encounter.
The two teams played so well to the admiration of the local fans especially the RTU fans who cheered at the players for exhibiting good football skills and urged them on to do same during competitive games to bring honour to the nation and their Clubs.
It was a delight to see the antics and skills of Emmanuel Alan, Tuaha Khamix and Emmanuel Klotey of the Meteors with support from the goalkeeper Ernest Sowah, who pulled many saves and stood between RTU and a home victory.
In the 18th minute, there was, however a drama when Alan's superb shot at goal tore the net, for which the referee disallowed to deny the Meteors the opener.RTU quickly repulsed the attack and in the 30th minute, Alhassan Weah beat a number of defenders of the Meteors and keeper Sowah had no alternative than to bring him down, for the referee to rightly whistle for a penalty but keeper Sowah stood tall to save the kick. The home side however made amends in the 39th minute when Hanan Giwah headed home a corner to register the first goal for RTU.The Meteors responded quickly by scoring two rapid goals within three minutes in the 41st and the 43rd minutes through Tuaha Kwamix and Emmanuel Alan.Meteors Emmanuel Klotey increased the goal tally to three within the two minutes of added on time to end the first.Just as the second half resumed, RTU were again awarded another penalty in the 48th minute and this time round, Akwasi Soale made no mistake as he converted the kick neatly to register the second goal for RTU.
The Meteors scored the fourth goal at the 54th minute when Tuaha beat an offside trap to slot the ball into the net to give a sweet 4-2 victory to the Meteors.
