Nuaso (E/R), Feb. 11, GNA - The Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports, Mr Kwame Twumasi-Ampofo, on Saturday planted a mango tree to mark the beginning of the upgrading of the Manya Krobo Secondary School into a model school.He said most of the first batch of secondary schools that the government awarded on contract for upgrading into model secondary schools had been completed and from next month the government could start commissioning them as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the country.
Mr Twumasi-Ampofo said the government spent almost 700 billion cedis on the first batch of secondary schools that were selected for upgrading into model schools and the amount was realized from the HIPC Fund.He said because of the success of the first project, some development partners had decided to support the project and that the African Development Bank would fund the Manya Krobo Secondary School project.The contractors working on the project said it would be completed by March next year.
